What Is Aloe Vera?
The Aloe Vera plant is succulent
and a member of the lily family. Aloe Vera leaves
are filled with a healthful inner gel which is
full of many valuable nutrients including vitamins,
minerals, enzymes, lipids, amino acids and healing
mucopolysaccharides.
Aloe Vera has been known for
centuries as an overall curative and an almost
"miracle working" plant. Dioscorides,
a medical practitioner in the first century A.D.,
made a detailed report of aloes for treating wounds,
insomnia, stomach disorders, general pain, constipation,
and many other disorders. But Western civilization
lost the knowledge of Aloe as a healing substance
until recently. Aloe is in all burn units in major
hospitals in the USA. During the last 40 years,
much research on Aloe Vera has been undertaken
to determine why it was so valued throughout history.
